The Faux Pas-Cast

Breaking Taboos in the City of Love
(2017-2018)

Most people imagine a Parisian’s life to be pulled from the scenes of “Amèlie”: driving tiny cars alongside moustachioed bicylists, while chain-smoking freshly rolled cigarettes, and no idea of what technology is because we’re too busy having sex all the time.

We are two Americans (Mollie Laylin and Jennifer Fox Geraghty) who come from different parts of the country, with different backgrounds, and found ourselves in the same place at the same time. That place? A bar in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, the supposed City of Love. From there, a podcast was born.

Our anglophone, bi-monthly podcast delves into the belief that Paris is the sexually confident and culturally uninhibited city that the rest of the world believes it to be. We break down the taboos that Americans have and the French don’t, and the French have that Americans don’t. So, open up that bottle of rosé and spread some stinky cheese on a fresh baguette as you lie back on your chaise lounge, and listen in as we interview French people in-the-know, long-time expats, and share experiences from our own lives. No topic is too taboo.
